SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo on Tuesday sentenced Peter Fritz Lizama  to 30 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a then-15-year-old girl.

Seventeen years of the sentence was suspended, but the judge said Lizama will serve 13 years day for day without the possibility of parole, early release or work release.

“This conviction and sentence goes a long way toward protecting an innocent victim of a terrible crime,” Chief Prosecutor John Bradley said.

Lizama was arrested in Aug. 2018 after a 15-year-old girl reported that Lizama had awakened her in her bed at home and was sexually assaulting her.

She said the same person had previously sexually assaulted her numerous times.

Police questioned Lizama and he confessed to the crimes.

Bradley noted that Lizama must serve 13 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

“If he is ever released from prison, he will serve an additional 10 years on probation,” Bradley said. “He also will register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.”

Bradley said, “This crime was particularly heinous because of how the predator came into the victim’s home while she was sleeping.”

Lizama pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree in Oct. 2019.
