THE Saipan mayor’s office will implement the home/building numbering project on Monday.

Special assistant to the mayor Henry Hofschneider said they will distribute street addresses and house numbers to homeowners  and owners of commercial and non-commercial buildings.

The home/building numbering project was created by Saipan Local Law 5-6 in Feb. 1988.

Hofschneider said they will start in Koblerville, which is a subdivision and is well-organized,” he added, as he asked homeowners to cooperate with the team from the mayor’s office.

Janice Celis, a staff member of the newly created street naming and addressing division of the mayor’s office, will work  with Frank Camacho of HK Pangelinan & Associates, the project contractor, in handing out designated numbers in Koblerville  particularly at the former MIHA turnkey subdivision and Tottotville subdivision.

For his part, Mayor David M. Apatang thanked the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation and the governor’s grant office for allocating funds for the project.

He said the project will help a lot of people in the community especially during emergency situations. It will also pave the way for home mail deliveries in the future, he added.

He said his office will be coordinating with the U.S. Post Office, other carrier services and emergency responders, including the Department of Public Safety, to ensure that they are familiar with the home/building numbering project.
