CHARLIE Sendin prevailed in the 4th Annual Saipan Duathlon on Saturday at Paupau Beach.

Competing against young and strong contenders, Sendin said he had fun during the race, adding that it felt “great” to win the duathlon.

Instead of taking the race seriously, I considered it as part of my preparation for the bigger race to come,” he added, referring to the 31st Tagaman Triathlon on March 21, 2020.

The duathlon on Saturday featured a 5km run and a 20km bike course followed by a 2.5km run.

I train every day, avoid unhealthy food, and I always make sure to have a good night’s sleep,” Sendin said.

I’m more into running than cycling, and that’s why, for me, cycling was the most challenging part of this duathlon,” he added.

Coming in second was Justin Jones while Teng Zhang finished third.

In the women’s category, Nina Gonzaga was victorious with Sheila Isla and Vernice Ronda finishing second and third.

3rd: Vhoie Francia and Renato Barros

Mixed Relay
