SAIPAN Mayor David M. Apatang said the time of the year has arrived when families and friends come together to celebrate the holiday season.

Christmas is about coming together as a community, making promises to understand and accept our differences…to celebrate a season of renewed commitment to peace, love, and family. It is a season to show love, to show compassion, to give to those in need, and most of all, to show forgiveness,” the mayor said.

On Christmas, Apatang urged everyone to reach out a little further to those around them and look for those who might need an extra helping hand.

Our Christ the Savior was born amid uncertainties of His time like ours today. Let the cheers of the season be the single most important spirit in bringing us forward and together. Also, we must give thanks to our Lord for His guiding hand and wisdom,” he said.

He noted that over the years, the community was able to endure challenges and learned valuable lessons to take into the New Year.

On behalf of his staff, he is wishing families and friends living on Saipan and abroad a Merry Christmas.

We also want to extend our greetings to our partners who never fail to come to our aid in time of our greatest need. To the Guam National Guard, Army Reserve, active military members, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, local government agencies, and many others, Merry Christmas and be safe,” the mayor said.
