Voter registration forms due today

TODAY, Friday, is the last day to register to vote for the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

To download and complete the voter registration form, visit votecnmi.gov.mp, then submit the form to the Commonwealth Election Commission.

Candidates for the 22nd CNMI Legislature include a number of incumbents as well as some new faces to the political arena.

This upcoming midterm election, there are six House seats available for Saipan’s Precinct 1, two for Precinct 2, six for Precinct 3, two for Precinct 4, two for Precinct 5, and one House seat each for Tinian and Rota.

Each of three main islands will also elect a senator.

U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan is running unopposed as an independent candidate.

Voters will also select members of the non-partisan municipal councils on Saipan, Tinian and Rota as well as two Board of Education members on Saipan and one on Rota.

Seeking retention are Judge Kenneth Govendo, Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja and Associate Justice Perry Inos.

The deadline for applications to vote through an absentee ballot is Oct. 9.

Early voting for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will start on Oct. 27.
