THE Theft Apprehension Select Coalition Task Force or TASC under the Department of Public Safety has arrested Maynard Dela Cruz and Rollin Ulechong Skang on the charge of burglarizing the Division of Parks and Recreation maintenance office in As Perdido.

TASC identified Dela Cruz and Skang as the perpetrators after an informant provided information regarding two individuals selling equipment that was reported stolen.

DPS received a call on Aug. 17, 2020 regarding a burglary and theft of a government office  where five  brush-cutters, a battery pack, a blower, and a container of gas were stolen.

At the scene, officers met with the caller who is an employee of Parks and Recreation. The employee led police to the storage room where officers noticed signs of forced entry.

Dela Cruz, 29, and Skang (previously spelled Skaggs), 20, were arrested on Sept. 4 following a DPS press notification that they were both wanted by the police for questioning.

Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim Tenorio on Tuesday imposed a $20,000 cash bail on each of the defendants who appeared at the bail hearing in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Karie Comstock appeared for Dela Cruz. The court will appoint a defense attorney for Skang.

Dela Cruz and Skang were both charged with conspiracy, burglary, and theft. After the hearing, they were remanded  to Corrections and ordered to return to court on Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
