THE CNMI Women’s Association will host the 7th Annual Women’s Summit virtually on Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CWA board president Cecilia Taitano said the conference was originally slated for March, but it was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s theme is “Continuing to Rise and Women Leading Sustainable Development.”

“It will be our first experience to go virtual,” Taitano said in an online press conference Monday. “The great advantage of that is people all over the world can join.”

During the summit, she said CNMI women will discuss disaster recovery, economic development, health and the military buildup on the islands.

The invited speakers include Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna, Northern Marianas Housing Corporation deputy corporate director Zeny Mafnas and Erin Darrington of the Office of Planning and Development.

CWA administrator Felicidad Ogumoro said they want to see more women on Saipan, Tinian and Rota participate in the political, economic, and social development of the CNMI.

Women’s Affairs Office special adviser Shirley Ogumoro said those who want to attend the summit may register by filling out the information form that will be available on the Facebook pages of the CNMI Women’s Association, the Women’s Affairs Office and the Office of the Governor.

For more information, call CWA at 233-8978, or WAO at 488-2658.
