The Blue Eagles were in control right from the start, building enough breathing room to triumph over Eats Easy x The Game, 76-60.

The Blue Eagles’ defensive awareness was their biggest strength with Douglas Schmidt leading at the frontline. His speed, aided with his long reach, disrupted The Game with constant steals leading to fastbreak opportunities on the other end. He also led the opening quarter with a triple and two other buckets to carry seven points while big man Bart Demapan and Darwin Barbo acted as the backbone, combining for nine points from under the rim for an 18-13 Blue Eagles spread.

Arnold Arellano kept The Game alive, scoring eight points, but the rest of the team failed to match his performance. Unable to find their vantage from inside the paint due to the Blue Eagles’ towering defense, The Game’s players were forced to attack from afar. However, only Dayao could find his range as his team continued to struggle, falling further behind by double digits.

In the third quarter The Game started to add some defensive pressure by closing a few driving lanes in an effort to reduce the Blue Eagles’ production. Arellano stretched his offense as well with a couple of shots from behind the three-point line, but he could not get the rest of his team to deliver.

The Blue Eagles already had the win in the palm of their hands as they slowed down the pace in the final quarter, using their height to pick apart The Game. Edwin Santos and Manalo Manolo took over with back to back buckets finishing strong to secure their team’s win over The Game, 76-60.

Shirley’s Coffee Shop players had a tough game against Islander Rent A Car, but eventually found their footing to blow past their opponents in the end.

At first, the Islanders stood toe-to-toe thanks to the offensive work of Ken Viray, putting up 11 points alone in the opening quarter. However, he was nowhere to be seen in the second quarter as Shirley’s powerhouse Matt Duenas scored seven points and followed up with 13 more with the help of Diaz to gain the lead, 49-35. The Islanders tried to chip away at the deficit, but Shirley’s held onto its big lead as Dennis Mendiola and Jack Aranda scored five points apiece to lead their team to victory against the Islanders, 82-65.
