(Press Release) — The Triathlon Association of the CNMI or TRAC along with the Marianas Visitors Authority is fully supporting the staging of the Saipan Marathon this Saturday and the Tagaman triathlon next week. The measures implemented by the federal and CNMI governments and the assurances made by the lead agencies at the governor’s press conference solidify TRAC’s support and resolve to proceed.

Tagaman is USA Triathlon sanctioned. On the part of the local organizing committee, TRAC has plans in place in accordance with USAT guidelines. The scheduled 3 p.m. press conference on March 19 is for members of the media only.

The race briefing and race kits can be picked up on March 20 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Kanoa Resort.

Instead of the usual random pickup of kits, the schedule will be arranged according to groups: 2-3:30 p.m., Korean language; 3-4:30 p.m., Japanese language; and 4:30-6 p.m., English language.

Aside from advising everyone to observe strict personal hygiene and minimize physical contact, participants, as well as related personnel, will be provided with hand sanitizers, isopropyl alcohol and antiseptic wipes during pre- and post-race activities.

The Tagaman Triathlon is the longest-running race in the Western Pacific and it was first held on March 12, 1988.

Tagaman is celebrating its 32nd anniversary and continues to accept participants who wish to take part in the event. The deadline is March 18.

Tagaman’s major sponsors are Kanoa Resort as the official hotel, Tan Siu Lin Foundation, Skymark Airlines, DFS T Galleria, IT&E, Triple J Enterprises, Hyatt Regency, Brabu Pharmacy and Marpac.

The additional sponsors are Bridge Capital LLC, Saipan Ice & Water, Marianas Variety, Fiesta Resort & Spa, KFC Triathlon, Neo Timing System, Marianas Health, NMI Cycling Federation, Hawaiian Rock Products, J’s Restaurant, RVN Construction and volunteers from Grace Christian Academy.
