JIM Kurt Maniago, along with five other CNMI runners, was among the top six finishers in the men’s 5k race of the 2020 Saipan Marathon on Saturday.

Maniago, 14, breezed through from American Memorial Park to the 13 Fishermen Memorial turnaround point and then back to the park to record the best time of 0:20:22 in the men’s 5k race.

Joining him in the top six were Markus Joaquin Toves who placed second with a time of 0:21:21; Rex Pixley, checking in at 0:21:39; Ariel Narvaez, 0:21:39; Garrett Weaver, 0:21:49; and Ronald Villafria, 0:22:09.

In the women’s 5k course, Krizel Mae Tauzon clocked 0:27:24 to secure first place. Miaozhuo Wang was second, 0:28:16; Jinie Thompson was third, 0:29:09; Tyana Hix was fourth, 0:29:55; Harumi Suzuki was fifth, 0:30:49; and Esther Xu was sixth, 0:30:55.

In the men’s 10k course, South Korea’s Sungchan Park recorded the best time of 0:37:12 while Kosuke Hara of Japan placed second with a time of 0:37:41. The rest of the top five were Kosuke Sato, 0:40:16; Ken Song, 0:40:16; and Whit Altizer, 0:41:24.

In the women’s division of the 10k run, Yunmi Lee from South Korea finished first, 0:42:54. Nokriko Jim of Japan was second, 0:43:50; Kang Yoonyoung was third, 0:48:29; Kaithlyn Chaves was fourth, 0:49:35; Choi Jinkyyung was fifth, 0:49:44; and Ayano Braxton was sixth, 0:50:26.
