Yoga goes virtual

YOGA sessions are now livestreamed on Facebook as part of the Latte Built virtual classes.

“I want to be able to connect with [community members even] during the quarantine,” certified Yoga instructor Kerri Bauer said, adding that participants “meet” Monday and Thursday at 7:30 a.m. on Facebook

The class is structured as a guided meditation using a method of teaching that involves physical and emotional cues with a mix of Bauer’s own techniques.

“I use power moves with my own twist, designed to evoke uplifting feelings of joy and confidence. I believe now more than ever that we need to use our minds to draw out positive emotions,” she said.

The class features a flowing sequence of yoga postures and dynamic movements. It is intended for all levels of fitness and incorporates traditional moves of tree, warrior two, mountain pose, chair pose, child’s pose and more. These moves are integrated into a flowing series of sweat-drenching moving meditation, Bauer said.

The classes were typically held Monday and Thursday at Latte Built from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., and they will resume at the same time and place after the quarantine.
