AMIGOS Golf Club, which holds a monthly tournament, has suspended the rest of its events this year until further notice.

“Due to Covid-19, our Amigos president, Joe Torres, has suspended all qualifying ace tournaments,” tournament coordinator Sylvio S. Ada said.

Amigos’ January, February, and March ace tournaments have already been completed when the island-wide lockdown took effect. Ada said because several club members are employed by the fire department and Homeland Security, “we could not hold the April tournament.”

In January, it was Ben Duenas who took the crown. He shot a two-day net total of 139 and was tied with Roy Ada. Ada finished second in the playoff when the Duenas parred hole No. 17 while Roy Ada had a bogey.

In February it was Frank Ermitanio who claimed the title. He netted a total of 140 in the two-day tournament at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

“As soon as things settle down, which I still do not know when that will be, all qualifying ace tournaments will resume,” Sylvio Ada said. Club officers have yet to meet to discuss the make-up schedules for April and May, he added.

“We hope to resume the games as soon as possible, but we have to play it safe as the health of our members and the community is our primary concern.”
