CYCLISTS and runners are in for a treat on Nov. 7 as two events will be held on the same day: the Off-Road Duathlon and the North Trail Run.

Sponsored by Tan Holdings Corporation, this year's events will have a few changes from last year's.

For the North Trail Run, the route will be stretched for a longer battle on foot.

“We made the trail run longer this year from 6km to 11.6km, encompassing the Marpi Pathways, Kamikaze Trail, Autobahn, Santa Claus and Banzai Trails or the North Trail loop instead of going around the Banzai Trail," said Triathlon Association of the CNMI secretary general Rick Castro.

"For the duathlon, the run portion is the same last year, but we made changes to the mountain bike portion,” he added. “Last year was longer and only two trails were included, but this year, me made it shorter but more technical by including Kamikaze Trail and Autobahn."

Because of the rainy season, these off-road trails are expected to be muddy.

Both events will start at the Last Command Post in Marpi with a go-time of 6:30 a.m.

T-shirt will be given out to the finishers.

Proceeds of the event will help fund the hosting of the 2022 Pacific Mini Games triathlon and the maintenance of the North Trail.

Last year's winners of the IT&E Off-Road Duathlon & Trail Run were Kosuke Sato and Roxanne Soriano in the 6km Trail Run (Men & Women); Charlie Sendin and Kimiko McKagan in the Duathlon (Men & Women); the C&R Team and the H&Y Team in the Duathlon (Team Men & Team Mixed); and Bob Ferrer for Best MTB Split.
