CNMI DOL to hold workshop on coronavirus impact on economy

(Office of the Governor) — The CNMI Department of Labor is inviting all businesses to attend a free workshop on Wednesday, March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

The workshop will focus on the coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak, with special attention to its impacts on health, tourism and workforce.

Topics of discussion will include local labor regulations, CW-1 regulations, workforce trends and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Apprenticeship State Expansion grant, among others.

The workshop will also feature two guest speakers: Esther Muna, chief executive officer of the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation who will discuss “Covid-19 countermeasures in the workplace”; and Gloria Cavanagh, chairperson of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, who will speak on “the economic impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry.”
