(JKPL) — The Motheread/Fatheread CNMI is a nationally acclaimed community-based program administered by the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, in partnership with the CNMI Public School System and the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

Motheread/Fatheread CNMI seeks to improve the social/emotional and literacy development of young children by increasing parent engagement through our Early childhood and family literacy programming/activities.

We humbly invite families to join us on our weekly activities held at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. We will offer our free classes from Aug. 4-24, 2020, with the following schedule (by appointment only): Early Literacy Story Hour (Session A)is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; (Session B) is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon for ages 0 - 5 years old; and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children’s Story Hour is offered on Wednesdays for children ages 6 - 12 years old from 10: 30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m..  After each Story Hour, Team Motheread/Fatheread CNMI distributes and Learning Craft Kit to Go for the participating children to take home. Families are then invited to take photos of the learning activities performed at home and post on social media, tagging @mrfr.cnmi @cnmimotheread and @joetenkiyupubliclibrary.
