What I do not understand are the generators. Could they be turned off from time to time so that fuel could be conserved for “the lean times ahead?” There is certainly so much talk on air that things are heading for the worse. Who knows, shutting down the generators from time to time just might extend their service lives – and provide ample time for much needed tune-ups!The government has stepped in and bestowed a very generous subsidy – supposedly to help low-income earners maintain their electrical use – in an attempt to keep people “in touch” with the generators, which means they will continue to generate power.PPUC certainly does not know the earnings of the household it provides service to; it does, however, know how much power is consumed per household and as expected bills on time.I am more inclined to believe that people who earn more than $20K a year would tend to use less power and are more likely to benefit from the subsidy. It is like this: one tends to stay out more to maintain high salary earnings; and in doing so, would only return home for sleep – when no lights are needed, which means less power consumed. People who earn less than $20K cook, wash, entertain, and even stay up late to complete unfinished chores at home; and though they desperately need to conserve, they can’t afford to.In all fairness, I really think power just should be shut down – like a few minutes ago, unannounced but scheduled. You and I are flexible and adaptable beings. Lets vote for power rationing – applicable to all customers.I hope someday we would not be compared to nesting turtles – said to be misguided due to too many artificial lights on shore. At the very least, turtles have you and I and an endless list of world organizations working to secure their future. What about us? Power has blinded us! We’re wired and billed – the tagging game has begun! Power to you!
