THE United Filipino Organizations successfully hosted its Annual Pistang Pinoy Festivities on June 8 in celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day.
UFO also held a flag-raising ceremony on June 12, 7 a.m. at Aqua Resort Club. It was attended by members of the Filipino Community, CNMI Government officials and Philippine Consulate General officials headed by Consul General Rosario P. Lemque.
Among the CNMI government attendees were Gov. Arnold Palacios, Lt. Gov. David Apatang and former Gov. Ralph Torres.
Joining them were Rev. Fr. Nelson Flohimon, IT&E officials, RNV Construction officials, and Saipan Computer Services/Ideal Signs personnel.
The eight organization presidents of UFO led the flag parade under the guidance of Emon Masonic Lodge No. 179. The flag was raised by the UFO president, while Saipan-born Juliana Kai Ortiz sang the Philippine National Anthem. A short program and light breakfast followed.
At Pistang Pinoy, CNMI community members and overseas Filipino workers participated in the whole-day event, which showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through various forms of entertainment, games, group and individual performances, food, and non-food items from local vendors. We are very thankful to all those who attended and participated.
The festivities were highlighted by raffle draws with lots of prizes. Pistang Pinoy also showcased the “Roleta, Spin-to-Win” game. This year’s grand prize was a round-trip ticket for Saipan-Manila courtesy of Super Tech, Inc. Other lucky winners walked away with first, second, and third prizes.
