THE Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums extends its deepest condolences to the family of the Honorable Governor Arnold I. Palacios, First Lady Wella Palacios, their children, grandchildren, and to the people of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands during this time of mourning.
Honorable Governor Palacios was a visionary leader and a steadfast supporter of education, culture, and community. His dedication to public service was rooted in a deep love for his people and a strong commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the CNMI. Throughout his life, he championed initiatives that strengthened access to information, advanced cultural preservation, and empowered learning across generations.
The PIALA community is especially grateful for Honorable Governor Palacios’s unwavering support for libraries, archives, and museums in the Marianas and throughout Micronesia. His belief in the power of knowledge, cultural identity, and access to lifelong learning was evident in his leadership and in the legacy he leaves behind.
As we honor his memory, we also celebrate a life of public service that has inspired so many throughout the Pacific region. His contributions will continue to resonate in our shared efforts to preserve the stories, histories, and traditions of our island communities.
