Common sense

LET’S all take a moment of silence to acknowledge the families who have perished in the devastating earthquake in Myanmar.

It’s no different from the tidal wave that hit Indonesia in 2004, or the 9/11 destruction of our Twin Towers in New York City.

Today, families around the world are still suffering and struggling because of government mismanagement and corruption.

We voters should know better that we all share the consequences every time we seek changes in our government.

We will not live forever. And like us, our loved ones will pass away. It’s a fact of life folks.

The Battle of Saipan is no exception in American history and we don’t want any more destruction to happen anywhere in our nation and its territories.

While we honor our ancestors, we must also respect their hard work in defending the nation’s creed and flag.

They allowed us to preserve our American values and principles so we cannot dishonor them.

We cannot be reckless or careless. And we cannot allow our elected officials to abuse their power and create chaos and uncertainty.

Saipan, Tinian and Guam played a major role in ending World War II in the Pacific.

We must be diplomatic with our neighbors and the rest of humanity so we can all work together in resolving global problems peacefully. We must look out for our neighbors and help one another.

To take advantage of other people is not the American way, folks. We respect one another because we have law and order from above.

But because some of those in power have conflict of interests we are still fighting against GREED and DISORDER and DESTRUCTION.

Are we really that reckless to keep fooling our fellow humans and allowing certain officials to abuse their power?

We should be grateful for the little things that grandma and grandpa provided us when we were growing up.

People, we need each other — no matter our religion, race, or the color of our skin. No one is above another. We are all equal, united by our common humanity.

Did Grandma or Grandpa teach you to eat all the apples by yourself? Grandpa told me to share them with my siblings.

I was taught to help my siblings, neighbors, and friends so that no one goes to bed hungry.

This is why I hate writing editorials because I tell it like it is folks.

In closing, my plea to the world is this: Let’s all work together — whether we are Americans, Chinese, Russians, or of other nationalities. Let’s support our families, neighbors, and one another. We have seen enough destruction.

Peace to humanity.
