POLITICAL season is upon us. The question now is: what will our Legislature, Gov. David M. Apatang, and Lt. Gov. Dennis Mendiola do to improve our islands’ economy? Will this be another State of the Commonwealth Address that focuses only on NMC, while overlooking the accomplishments and struggles of Rota and Tinian?
There is already talk of another round of government austerity. But what will that mean — reduced hours, furloughs, or something worse?
What is this administration and the current Legislature doing to curb wasteful spending? What outcomes, accomplishments, or successes can cabinet members point to? The people deserve answers.
The community is watching. Voters are watching.
Are our leaders addressing real priorities? Are they correcting the mistakes of the previous administration, or is this simply another Palacios-style government, with the same people being protected while doing nothing but traveling, attacking, and retaliating against employees?
How many cases have been filed with the Office of the Public Auditor and the Attorney General’s Office? And what will happen to the current lt. governor — does this administration have a plan?
I urge the people of the CNMI to question everything and demand results. Demand improvements. Remove or prosecute the corrupt.
The community is watching. Voters are watching.
Sincerely,
FRANK MANGLONA
Saipan, CNMI
