But I must say that there is a huge difference between demanding and using false humanitarian issues as a reason for one’s self-interest agenda.
In 1986 we the people of the commonwealth woke up AMERICAN CITIZENS, yes. I woke up an American and am proud of it. How it happened is really simple. 78.8 percent of our voters, including my parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunties, VOTED YES to become a member of the American Family, a destiny that would forever change our future.
Our people did not make demands, did not protest, held vigils, and so forth. Instead we were afforded the opportunity to CHOOSE, YES or NO. Our answer was all it took. Through negotiations after negotiations between our government and the United States we became what we are today, American citizens.
