Letter to the Editor: Apprenticeship program

We will ensure that such an apprenticeship program partnered with our Northern Marianas College and WIA is achieved and become a reality for the sake of our future generations.

Two decades have lapsed and the promise of educating and training our local U.S. residents to take on the workforce of our homeland has been derailed due to self-interest and politics.

Today we are proud to see that Northern Marianas College under the helm of Dr. Carmen Fernandez and WIA’s Edith Deleon Guerrero, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor, has already set in motion this apprenticeship program.

We wish to recognize and commend Dr. Fernandez and Ms Deleon Guerrero for their commitment and determination to empower our local people and our future generations to gain the skills necessary to handle our local workforce.

As Ms Deleon Guerrero has stated, “It’s time to do this. We have to make a difference for today’s workforce.”

Finally the apprenticeship program will become a reality.
