Letter to the Editor: Cockfighting

First, since I feel that he was referring his comment to me about not making money, I want to clarify that I did make some money running the cockfight. But to operate it on a year to year basis is not worth the time.

Anyway, his proposal for a BOT is okay, but it’s the wrong timing. The idea of putting it on  public domain so the people can collectively own it is somewhat troubling — what is the benefit?

If he wants local people to own and benefit from it, then he should ask everyone to pitch-in so they could build it themselves.

Frankly, there is nothing wrong with House Local Bill 17-27. The problem is, whenever someone comes up with an idea on how to improve something, everyone becomes an expert.

Lately, the municipal council has been strongly voicing their opinions against the Saipan delegation’s idea, and it is about time that they either allow the municipal council to take over the function of the Saipan delegation or shut down the office completely through their budget.

The council cannot continue to voice their concerns through a paid consultant’s opinion that doesn’t do any good in the end.

Their budget could be better spent elsewhere than running an office with a highly paid consultant for nothing.

It’s a shame to have all these offices and elected positions on such a small island. Someone should look into the teacher’s suggestion of having a city manager. It could be the answer to our problems. Think about it!
