Letter to the Editor: Do not risk it, and get nothing more!

Hindrances! We want to move forward. But we try a lot to make a fuss out of every good thing that comes along. Without giving it a chance to breath, we are already choking it down by the throat. For example Taotao Tano si  Goro’ Bila’ — why is it so bad that we give out homestead lots to the folks on Tinian? So what if it is an election year — the people of Tinian needs homesteads and now they have them! What’s wrong with Flame Sako cautiously proceeding forward with their investment? Is it your money that they are spending?

Si Tina Sablan thinks suing the feds is a gross idea, then she also asked them to delay it — she is so confused between making laws, and interpreting laws. Doesn’t she see it that such an act as suing the feds is a heroic one in that it proves one is actually a freedom fighter? Last time I heard, we elected her to make significant legislation for Precinct 1 and she made nothing as of yet.

The problem I think is that we do have a lot of social scientists lurking in our midst like Eddie boy Propst whatever his name is. These scientists have done nothing but make complaints after complaints leaving no solutions but to point out only the disheartening notes. Oh for reals man! Who needs complaints! We want action and risk takers not cookies from Boys Scouts and dollies from Barbies!

Oops, sorry. I do like the big hotels built as a result of Goro Bila’s complaints and bickering. I am now also enjoying the new power generators as a result of the band-aid protesters! And don’t forget the millions of dollars appropriated via the effort of Congresswoman Tina Sablan’s office to construct a state of the art sports arena for the people of Precinct 1! Oh yes! It will be great to run and vote for people as such so we can pay them good to make complaints that accomplish nothing.

Another thing is about the potential growth through real estate. Last time I heard is that real estate business is something like I buy land, put it on title that’s mine, then I start investing hard earned cash. Tough luck!

How many of our good boys and social scientists like Goro Bila, Eddie boy Prospt and dolly Tinas do we have that have the kind of cash readily available to infuse huge investments?

Get it? Is it time we revisit Article 12? Last time I heard, it was a business concept that in order to get, we must also give! But again, the many social scientists are saying look at Guam. Look at Hawaii. Sure, why not. Last time I looked at Guam and Hawaii in terms of real estate business, the life there is much better than our life here in the CNMI where we want to get only, but wouldn’t give. Still don’t get it?

I am not saying we do not have to safeguard our precious land resources. We have to! What I am saying is that we have to make something workable, doable, and more flexible kind of Article 12 than the present one we have. The kind of Article 12 that we have now is really a source of great HINDRANCE to our potential economic growth. Still don’t get it? Oh how wretched that we are! Where are you Social Scientists? Please come out now and suggest something that the rest of the world can say “Yes” let’s go invest in the CNMI where we cannot own what we will pay for. Sus tiam-pare, fan mat-mata che’lo sa’ tiatman man matai hit yangin para tafan taiguiguine-ha!

How about our health note? Last I heard, they all agreed that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a ton of cure! I for one strongly agree that Dr. Loutoby whose contract wasn’t renewed is the best so far inasmuch as kidney disease prevention is concerned. He maybe too overwhelmed to handle all of the dialysis patience alone, but so far he has saved a lot of patients’ kidneys through his prevention methods including mine from facing the dread of a machine.

I am not saying that these patients already on dialysis are helpless. What I am implying here is that if we had a doctor like Dr. Loutoby that’s good in preventive methods since years past, our dialysis unit wouldn’t be that heavy traffic as it is today.

I still pray everyday that I may never have to use the fistula access that Dr. Loutoby sensibly got me to consider, in one of his preventive measures — not only preventive, but also making you ready in the eventuality that you have to be on the machine!

The next kidney doctor coming in should also be the best in preventive effort, and all the doctors should help him with the on-dialysis machine patients.  One doctor, no matter who it will be, will not be able to handle more than 150 patients that are on the dialysis machine alone!

Even Dr. Sharma should also have the passion to work extra hours for free for she knows that one kidney doctor requires the assistance of all the other IM doctors that CHC has!

Kidney disease prevention is one investment that I will continue to endeavor from Governor Fitial, Lt. Governor Inos, Secretary Kevin Villagomez, and H.E.W. chairman Congressman Ralph Torres.

In closing, I will not apologize for what I am writing about is nothing personal! I am not a social scientist like the ones I am referring to, but I am only making my point clear to you — especially the ones I called brothers! If I am in error, I stand to be corrected but I am the kind of individual that wouldn’t ever give in to hinder any and all potential growth…if that’s the last thing that I can do in behalf of our (my) children. En fin serafin!
