What does it matter if this person doesn’t give to the Legislature? “He gives to us, so we vote for him!” People, once again I am obligated to write because this is simply not the reason why we vote for people these days! Picnic tables? Come on! Is the future of the CNMI and the reputation of an office worth just picnic tables and tents and things like that? Does it matter if the person has integrity anymore? Respect for office? Knowledge of how to speak extremely well and write without misspellings or profanity? How about a good sound education and experience in the CNMI as well as knowledge of the U.S. government? Looking at this list I’ve made, I can already see some candidates immediately eliminated from the nine running for U.S. congressional delegate. And I am not even talking about the ones already in offices which they have no qualifications for.
Some people say Tina Sablan is all talk and no show. Let’s be honest here, who would allow her to show anything if no one’s on her side up there? Or anywhere else for that matter? This is really a sad sight to see or hear about. This is my people, my people, who are the ones actually saying things like that! How disgraceful is that? No one is saying that they have seen Tina do anything to help the people who voted for her. Now, here’s the funny thing. That’s because she is DOING HER JOB. That is because she is not supposed to be wasting her time helping people with tents and tables for parties or extra unnecessary funding for unrelated events. She is giving back to us in a different way, people! Now, believe me, I am not for the guest workers either, but just to hate Tina because of that, hey, at least it proves she’s fair. She believes we should all be equals, and it proves that she does not look down on ordinary common citizens like me or thinks she is better than us. Shouldn’t that matter in a lawmaker? You know that a lawmaker will do his/her job when they say they are ready to move on from the petty old ways of “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” and start promising how well of a job they will do! I mean really, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s the elected individuals not doing their jobs, or is it the voters?
