Letter to the Editor: Economic summit and other issues

The result of that summit indicated that there were too much government regulations imposed on businesses to operate efficiently and effectively.

I wonder if the Legislature take any action on the recommendations to better the economy. Obviously not.

Why have another summit when the last summit’s input to improve our economy was not entertained by our Legislature? The $85,000 grant money for this year’s summit could have been used to fix some of our water problems and replace some of the meters that are already corroded.

Some lawmakers are planning to increase fees and taxes to generate revenue for the CNMI. This is not the right time to do it.

Better fix the water problem in Garapan. The water supply there is still salty, limited and dangerous for human consumption.

Soon the fee to own a gun will cost more than the value of the gun.

Follow what the Saipan Chamber of Commerce is recommending and reduce government spending.

The Ada Gymnasium restroom is filthy and cannot be maintained because money goes to payroll and nothing to pay the high cost of CUC  sewer fee.

For some reason something freaky is happening in our veterans office on Capital Hill.

I am a veteran of the Wisconsin and Nevada National Guard. I was a member of the Saipan Army Reserve for more than four years and the Guam Army Reserve for six months. I served in the Reserve component of the armed forces for more than eight years and was honorably discharged for faithful services. I was awarded the Army achievement medal.

But I was told by our local vets office that I do not qualify to be buried at the Marpi cemetery should I pass away. Is this true?
