Letter to the Editor: Employee morale at PSS

I am a bus driver for special education students. I show up to work and I work hard to support my family. I feel like I have been mistreated by PSS and my children are suffering as a result.

On several occasions this year my supervisors have altered my time card because they say I did not clock out for lunch. This is unfair because the demands of a special education bus driver require me to work these lunch hours. On many occasions I have had to go hungry because of work demands. To cut my paycheck is unfair. I deserve to be paid for hours worked.

The regulations for the Public School Employment of Non-Certified Personnel handbook in §2403 even states that “hours may be changed in order to meet job demands.”

I have no problem meeting the demands of my job. I am flexible and willing to work long hours, but I deserve to be paid for those hours worked. I believe that I am not the only person to have their paycheck cut and I request that a formal investigation take place to look into this issue.
