Letter to the Editor: Let’s all take a bite out of crimes

First of all, in my opinion, it could have been prevented if they had asked their administration for a security guard, knowing that the crime rate in that area was high.

The substation (DPS/Fire) is within 200 feet from the youth center. I’m not sure if they even asked DPS/Fire personnel assigned to that station to keep an EYE on the youth center.

Unfortunately, CRIMES are being committed on a daily basis throughout the entire island of Saipan. My family and I were victims as well. Luckily for the perpetrator, I was not home. Only God knows what would have happened if I was.  I did read the newspaper and learned about the incident at the youth center. I only wish that DPS and its investigation unit will catch all those selfish and destructive individuals behind this and other crimes and put them behind bars.

Meanwhile, we the community must be involved with the recently formed organization known as the Village Neighborhood Watch Program.  We need to be active and do our part to keep our community safe for our children and as well as our personal belongings.

Please be involved and join your village neighborhood watch program within your village or start your organization if your village has not formed the program by contacting the chairman of the municipal council, Mr. Ray Camacho.  We need to FIGHT back and protect our family and our personal belongings. WE NEED TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF CRIMES.
