Letter to the Editor: Now is the time to privatize CUC

would like to see the residents of the CNMI for a “UTILITY CO-OP.” It is not an easy thing to do, however I feel it would be worth the effort to do it. You form a Utility Co-op and get it registered and start selling shares. Then we buy CUC from the government.  We are going to need a good corporate attorney to set up the By-Laws and rules for the Co-op.

The benefits are many. It will belong to the residents of the CNMI. You will have a say in how it is operated and what the rates need to be. When we get it back on its feet and start making money it will pay dividend on your shares (quarterly), you will never get rich on the dividend, but if you are like me, every dollar helps. But best of all, all the money will stay here on the island and help build the economy. How do you ever hope to build a strong economy if all the money that companies make, keep leaving the island.

I have talked to a lot of people and they all seem to think that I have a good idea. Well, the time for talking is coming to an end. I am asking the public to meet with me on Friday, July 16th at 7 p.m., at the American Memorial Park Amphitheater. If you want to change things for the better for you and your family please take time to come to the meeting. Let us see if we can get this idea off the ground and up and moving. I hope to see a lot of you there.

PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING ON FRIDAY, JULY 16TH AT 7 P.M.
