Letter to the Editor: Quality of education

The school boasts 12 Advance Placement courses and is growing in size and scope. Test scores lead the CNMI and more students are advancing to college at a rate that dwarfs any time in our history.

The student body is as well behaved as any in the system and the staff is dedicated to excellence and diligence. The legislative committee needs to do its homework instead of accepting the testimony of a sour grapes teacher whose allegations are absurd at best.

This is a PSS matter. It is none of the committees business to question Mr. Garrison’s decision or his integrity. I dare say that the House needs to get its own house in order before it questions others. We do not need non professionals without portfolio telling PSS how to run its shop.

The quality of education at MHS is just fine, thank you. How about your quality of achievement, Congressmen? Come back when you have something intelligent to say.

Legislators should legislate and they should investigate but they should also do their due diligence. Come to MHS and see for yourselves what is going on here. We’re proud of it and do not need your committee’s input or help. Mr. Garrison is improving this school on a daily basis and doesn’t need low qualified people lending their respective points of view. We don’t need a hearing. We need professionals to continue to educate our kids.

When you start to look out for the common good, when you start raising the living standard of this island, and when you stop holding our educational system back, then you may have the right to question our school system.

Look in the mirror first!
