Letter to the Editor: Question to Continental

Sweet!

Question to Charles Duncan of Continental Airlines: Do you also plan to bring back all the former employees that Continental forced to either retire or re-locate to Guam or Houston?

Obviously, this is just temporary, since the dates have been advertised in the local paper.

I seriously doubt that they will ever expand to the CNMI.

In 1983, there was over 400 employees on Saipan  which was the headquarters for Continental Micronesia. Its accounting, cargo, mechanics, ramp and customer service agents totaled over 400 with travel and other benefits.

Today, ZERO employee — not even one. How sad for our people. My guess is, we are not good enough for  Continental Airlines.

For the record, all employees working in the ramp area and the ticket counters did not have any travel privileges and were underpaid.

I have met and spoke with other locals who worked for Continental to confirm this issue.

Does this really tell us something?  Do they care?  Again, I do not think so.

What the CNMI needs is a new airline company that is willing to give back to the community. An airline that cares about our people and wants to call the CNMI its HOME.   Biba CNMI!
