Letter to the Editor: Self-government?

The admission that  Labor does not have the manpower and financial resources in tracking the number of people in and out of the CNMI is appalling. It is evident that we do have a problem handling the security of our own borders!

A self-inflicted controversy on the lawsuit filed by the governor against the federal government.

Now, I may not agree on some of the issues Rep. Tina Sablan is   pursuing, but I believe that accurate data should be available upon request unless the department is truly evasive and incapable of monitoring our own borders.

Furthermore, Public Law 15-108 does require such data to be produced and it’s a mockery to our right to self-governance that the law TAOTAO TANO supported during its early stages to the day it was signed  is in itself an embarrassment.

History is repeating itself especially when the critical parts of the law that is supposed to benefit our local U.S. citizens are being “WAIVED” or put on hold.

One must understand that our right to self-governance was negotiated with the United States and should not be abused.
