Letter to the Editor: Sorry!

I am writing this letter to the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, but more importantly to the people of the Commonwealth, to apologize for my actions as the Credit and Collections Supervisor for CUC.

During my time as the Credit and Collections Supervisor, I allowed several customers to avoid disconnection of their accounts for failing to pay their power bills on time.

Each time I used my position with the Corporation to help a customer avoid disconnection, the Corporation lost the opportunity to collect revenues from those customers such as reconnection fees, late fees and interest from the customers.

Though several of the account holders paid their bills with interest, sadly, there are some accounts holders that have not.

Because my actions violated CUC policy and caused CUC economic harm, I accepted full responsibility for my actions.  I have also agreed to pay back CUC for the fees, costs and utility charges that CUC was not able to collect.

I deeply regret my actions. What at the time I believed were acts of compassion, I now realize were violations of CUC policies to treat the residents of the Commonwealth equally.

For this, I ask your forgiveness and the understanding that I am righting the wrong.
