Though he was vilified as evil by the current administration, HANMI and the Saipan Chamber of Commerce during his term, his suggestions — to ease the transition period, reduce uncertainty, address complicated human rights concerns, and offer the NMI a niche “that Silicon Valley would kill for” could build a second leg into our crumbled economy — were nothing less than brilliant.
Mr. Cohen’s remarks on visa waivers should appease the business community, and his green card proposal addresses our human rights issues and concerns of separating .S.S citizen children from their parents. Mr. Cohen also rekindled the idea of unlimited H visas, which would reduce uncertainty, guarantee a stable workforce, and provide a niche for the NMI to offer investors and corporations as a reason to eye the Marianas for future development.
Thank you Mr. Cohen, your testimony was the voice of reason in a sea of discontent.
