Letter to the Editor: The calm after the storm

First, I hope and wish that everyone currently employed by our Immigration will be allowed to continue working or will be eligible to retire. But again, this is another problem because of the non-remittance of employer’s contributions to the Retirement Fund.

The following is my humble analysis and fear of what could happen if the federalization issues favor nonresident workers despite objections to the troublesome forces.

One: The proponents’ movement and desire to grant guest workers U.S. citizenship status will be beyond approach if not immediately opposed. It is already sticking out like a sore thumb and gaining ground.

Two: Should the proponents prevail with their ultimate drive, they will all be sitting pretty because of their large and cohesive group. Anyone could be elected to the Legislature or placed in coveted positions.

Third: But then to protect their own group, it could be reversed in favor of the guest workers only and will “dump” any locals (even the prime movers) and award them since they have the controlling numbers to do it.

Fourth: There will be an exodus from the CNMI of new “U.S.” citizens to greener pastures.

Are you sure of this Canda?

Hekua, lao it’s my gut feelings nai.

And do you think our great leaders like in the Legislature knew about this?

Hunggan of course, and I think they are waiting for the opportune time to act when it is too late or sala already. It’s typical of our great leaders’ way; thinking they always have the upper hand and can quash anything come their way.

What about the budget crisis Canda?

Shoot, you know that? Gimme this, gimme that and no, no governor you cannot ok?

Hey, nice rhythm Canda. Got this Gil and Nao?

Say folks, go to Sabalu Market and get your veggies; doctor’s order. Get real fan people. Love you so much dai.

I know.
