Letter to the Editor: The new guardians of the community

Their outreach during the 90-day window for public scrutiny was brilliant.

Clearly, the erroneous path supported by government officials in their early proclamation that “this is a done deal” paled against the fine work of We Are Guahan.  It was We Are Guahan’s inherent understanding of grassroots issues, deep commitment and care for the people that propelled them into an orbit of public discussions and informational tours designed to better educate us about the real issues of the military buildup and to get our community involved.  In fact, even the so-called “done deal” decision to select Guahan as the site for massive militarization was up for scrutiny.

Si Yu’os ma’ase’ We Are Guahan for being the real guardians of our community by fostering our people’s collective consciousness and getting our community to pull itself up by our collective bootstrap and getting our best ideas out on how we must protect our human environment for present and future generations.  Buenu che’cho’-miyo!
