A transparent government should be liable so that citizens can gain information from our government.
Active participation allows a stronger government by improving the quality of decisions being made.
Effectively working together in our government provides accountability.
The Open Government Act or “sunshine law” allows the public to obtain information from a specific government agency.
Nearly half of the CNMI government agencies have failed to comply with the Open Government Act.
These government agencies are violating the law.
Probably the discrepancy that caused nearly half of our government agencies to fail is lack of active citizen participation and collaboration.
In the CNMI, this is one of our greatest concerns. We need to work effectively with one another to reduce complications within our government.
An open government can make the CNMI government better.
The consequences of not assuring an open government would lead to more discrepancies.
It is also best that everyone should be aware of our government’s decisions, actions, and issues that occur. The most effective and reliable informer is the media.
