Again, I will reiterate the issue: years of ignorance and self-interest benefits by some of our leaders led to the lost of our local immigration control.
What was the issue then? Human smuggling, human exploitations and labor abuses!
The new speaker of the House was our governor at that time and he was the one who received a letter of warning from the president of the United States to fix our immigration problems.
Where was Governor Fitial then during Froilan Tenorio’s tenure as governor?
Ask yourself this question: Which garment manufacturer was the center of attention decades ago, reported and televised nationwide?
Where were former Gov. Froilan Tenorio, former Gov. Pedro (Teno) Tenorio and now Gov. Benigno Fitial?
The answer is simple. They all had something in common. They knew that we had a broken and corrupted immigration system.
Today, it’s O.K. that a federal detainee was escorted by our local correction officers without proper authorization by the federal government to appease Governor Fitial’s back problems at his private residence.
The issue beforehand is that 24 aliens were being smuggled into our neighboring island, GUAM, which is now preparing for a major military buildup.
Once again I ask the question: Was the individual released and escorted to the governor’s private residence a foreign national charged with human smuggling?
When will the bad reputation and image of our homeland be repaired? Answer, it’s up to Ben, Pete, Froilan and Stanley. If I left anyone out, you know who you are.
