Hafa Adai Lt. Gov. Dennis Mendiola!

IT is with great honor that I say, after all the obstacles you went through regarding the allegations filed in court, it is a relief for both you and your family that these outrageous filings were determined not to be in the best interest of the CNMI and amounted to a waste of public resources by the Attorney General’s Office.

At a time when the CNMI government is facing funding shortages, it is troubling that a government office would choose to waste funds that could have been used for other important matters. Those who misuse public funds should be held accountable, rather than individuals who followed procurement rules and regulations and assisted other islands in need of transportation. I am hopeful that this type of irregularity will stop and that efforts will instead focus on the betterment of the CNMI.

In closing, it is the promise of the administration and the Legislature to pursue more realistic, revenue-generating measures to support the needs of the people, rather than punishing individuals with false accusations. It is in the best interest of the government to find ways to generate revenue and to encourage the return of those who have left due to inaction at home. I trust that you and other leaders will work together to improve conditions so that we may all return home.

With this, I wish you, the Governor, and the Legislature the best in making the Commonwealth a better place to live.

Best regards,
