SENATE Vice President Corina Magofna wants to install solar warning lights at all of the school cross walks. We have no funds for this so how about going back to what mothers use to teach children? Don’t run across the street. To make it more of a safety measure teach: make eye contact with an approaching driver before crossing. Yes, we are talking about children but they are smart enough to learn this simple crossing rules.
Saipan is getting a roundabout. We have no money so unless it is 100% paid for by the feds we do not need it. Sure at times there has been some backlog at that intersection but normally it is caused by people who wait for others so that no one moves. Just go there and watch how long some people wait to let others go first. Being nice is great but also moving long has benefits also. Has anyone asked how many accidents are caused by people who do not know how to enter or exit a roundabout?
COTA should just paint their buses yellow and put flashing lights on them. The buses are not school buses so people who get off of them should not be exiting the bus and running across the street. The buses stop in the middle of Beach Road all the time so passing them is difficult anyway. It is a public transport not a limo and should be operated as such.
Please use some common sense and not just spend money we do not have so it will appear that you are doing something. And shame on you Governor for not closing the purse strings for projects that can be addressed by education and not money.
