Herman’s Bakery generously donated goodies, allowing us to share a taste of home with the rest of our women’s team. A huge thank you to Patty and Dan Suel for assisting with our equipment bag and to the Celis family for helping us with our logistics needs. Tona and Popo Tudela, along with the Omar family, provided food and drinks during our games, which were greatly appreciated. To all our families in the 670 who rooted for us virtually, your cheers meant the world to us. Finally, a special thank you to Marianas Press and their sponsor, Joeten Motors, for livestreaming this year’s tournament, enabling everyone to be a part of the action.
Ten women’s teams competed fiercely for the title this year. While we finished in 4th place, the experience of playing against such amazing and talented teams was truly unforgettable. We applaud all the female teams that participated and congratulate every team for their efforts in increasing women’s softball representation at the annual CNMI Labor Day Softball Tournament. A special “hats off” to LADY TRIBES for taking home the championship trophy. While the competitive spirit is definitely a part of it, I truly believe that what matters most isn’t just our final standing. The real value lies in the camaraderie and friendship we build, and more significantly, the opportunity the annual CNMI Labor Day Softball Tournament provides for our indigenous people from the Marianas to gather. These interactions and the strengthening of our community truly exemplify our worth — coming together as one truly embodies and redefines the definition of championship.
Un dungkulu na si Yu’us ma’ase’ to this year’s organizing committee and our hosts in Tacoma, Washington. We greatly appreciate your warm hospitality. We had a wonderful time and are very grateful for all your efforts in making the 20th CNMILDST event a success.
A huge shoutout to all 60 softball teams and vendors for their participation. Your presence truly exemplified the Chamorro/CHamoru, and Carolinian spirit of Håfa adai yan Håfa adai Tirow. As Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” We look forward to coming together and working together for another successful 21st CNMILDST.
