EVERYONE appreciates the hard work news reporters do reporting on events/issues affecting our CMMI communities. I would like to bring up the news articles regarding retirees’ pension. Many articles mention “additional” 25%. It really is not additional. Some years ago the retirees’ pension was reduced by 25% based on a settlement agreement signed by the administration of a previous governor. Later U.S. federal judge from Guam Frances Gatewood appointed Attorney Tang to create and administer a Retirees’ Settlement Fund. The administration at that time still paid the 25% so that retirees received their full 100% pension. The pension is what retirees earned for working many, many years. So the 25% “additional” pension is not accurate.
Thank you for your attention.
