GOVERNOR Palacios is correct about not making an overt effort toward the redevelopment of Chinese tourism in the CNMI.
The Communist Chinese government is in the process of giving rockets to Communist Russia to subdue the democratic nation of Ukraine, killing innocent people, and intimidating American shipping in the South China Sea.
And, as the Governor has stated, the U.S. military is in the process of developing an Air Force Divert Facility on Tinian, just in case China or Communist North Korea should actually hit Guam with a missile, as they have threatened more than once.
Of course, it would be improper to inhibit Chinese tourists from visiting our islands, any more than any other country.
The Chamber of Commerce is correct in stating that the CNMI economy needs to be diversified.
The Tinian Dynasty Hotel remains structurally sound. Unlike the dead monster towering over Garapan, the Dynasty facility can be restructured to another purpose that would reopen the old conference hall. Perhaps it could be turned into an international health spa resort with hotel rooms and condominiums; a joint venture between an American Health Maintenance Organization and a privately owned Japanese or Korean medical facility.
No doubt, there are other options, if people would think outside the box.
