To those calling for mass deportation

THE hate I’m seeing about HSI’s worksite enforcement is unbelievable. The way people talk about those who come here to work is disgusting.

If someone is willing and able to work, they should be allowed to — plain and simple. But instead, people push for deportation like getting rid of these workers will magically create jobs. Truth is, if you wanted a job, you’d go get one instead of sitting around complaining.

These so-called “illegal immigrants” arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and they still find work. Meanwhile, some of those who’ve been here for generations can’t get off food stamps. Who’s really the problem?

These people cook our food, clean our streets, stock our stores, fix our roads. They take the jobs many won’t — long hours, no benefits, taxed like everyone else, all for $7.25 an hour. And if they were all deported tomorrow — restaurants shut down, trash piled up, no water deliveries — would you still be happy?

This isn’t about jobs. It’s about entitlement. Some believe they deserve more just for being born here. That’s the same mindset colonizers had when they used our people for labor and tossed them aside. We should know better by now.

Stop blaming immigrants for your struggles. If they can come here with nothing and still make it, what’s stopping you? Maybe it’s time to look in the mirror and ask yourself why.
