BRIDGE Capital LLC has begun accepting submissions for its 11th Annual Flame Tree Art Competition, which will give away more than $15,000 in cash prizes. The submission deadline is April 3.
All submissions must be physically brought to Bridge Capital’s Garapan office by 5 p.m. of the deadline.
Artwork will be judged based on the level of artistic skill demonstrated by the creator, the uniqueness of the ideas embodied in it, and its overall creativity and originality.
According to a media release, submissions should be in the form of “traditionally accepted artistic materials and techniques,” such as paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, sculptures, metal work, carvings, models, castings, pottery, glassblowing, among others.
Digital artwork, including digitally enhanced photography, photographs and other two-dimensional art, must be printed on canvas or photo paper and framed.
The submissions will be displayed during this year’s Flame Tree Arts Festival.
The contest is open to any person who has resided continuously in the CNMI for at least one year prior to Feb. 26, 2024. CNMI residents who reside outside the Commonwealth for school or military reasons may participate.
Participants may submit up to two artworks. Submission forms must accompany each artwork.
The entries will remain with Bridge Capital until the conclusion of the competition.
Winners from last year’s competition may participate in the 2024 Flame Tree Art Competition, but may not submit artwork for judging in the same category that the contestant previously won.
Every work entered in the competition is eligible for up to four prizes: the Best of Show Award; the Governor’s Choice Award; either first or second prize in the category in which the artwork was entered.
The Best of Show Award is worth $2,000. A $1,500 first prize and $1,000 second prize await the winners in the Painting/Drawing, Photography, Open, and 12 to 17 divisions. In the 11 and Under Division, the first and second prizes are $750 and $500. The Governor’s Choice Award is worth $1,000.
