‘Battle of the Voices’ begins on Saturday

THE Music Performing Arts Competition Corp. or MPACC will hold its first “Battle of the Voices” singing competition this Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-purpose Center in Susupe.

The registration will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the competition.

The contestants will go through a three-time round robin elimination process from Aug. 19 to Oct. 21, 2023. On Nov. 4, 2023, in the grand finale, the three top winners will be selected and each will receive a cash award.

The contestants will be judged by a panel of five judges, who themselves are musically inclined. The judges will use generally accepted singing contest criteria.

MPACC is a locally registered nonprofit organization.

“It is in our collective best interests to aspire and work toward building a better community for ourselves,” MPACC said.

The organization intends “to use the soothing power of music as its transforming vehicle to create an atmosphere of benevolence and trust.” It believes that “music is a universal gift and has the power to connect people and establish social cohesion.”

The Battle of the Voices is MPACC’s first event.

MPACC said it believes that by “elevating our daily conversation from financial stress to music and saturating our monthly activities with musical events [instead of  political discourse] and surrounding ourselves with the sound of music, our state of mind can go through an array of positive emotions as music can evoke powerful emotional responses such as joy and happiness. That is how we believe we can achieve building a better community through the…power of music,” MPACC added.
