BETWEEN the IMMENSITIES

Poetry by Joey Connolly

November Afternoon Nap
Remembered in December

Well we live on planet earth
where can be found madness
sometimes measures of mirth
often mixed with sadness
what if anything is it worth
we have to pay life’s price
we rock and then roll the dice
living daily slice by slice
we walk the dog tell our tale
we wag the tail of the dog
our life in a fog we talk the talk
at times in our life we all fail
fall stumble and then balk
weary of life’s constant strife
around the world wars abound
countless children starve and die
no food no homes no schools
we have to wonder why
drones missiles and bombs
babies and children survivors
with dead fathers and moms.

12/28/25 a December wake up call

As I write this CNN reports Russia has
been bombing civilian targets in Kiev,
Ukraine for the past 12 hours, with
hundreds of missiles and drone attacks.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
from Putin (former KGB) and Russia
In Gaza millions starving and homeless,
poor sanitation, homes and hospitals gone.
What hope in the year ahead for them?
