The ovens and grills were already turned off for the day, we were told, and it was our fault because the restaurant was officially closed for the night. The food staffers were kind enough to accommodate us although they already posted the CLOSED sign at the door.
I just looked with longing at the large pizza a couple was finishing up at the table next to us. With very limited choices, we just settled for a chicken plate for $9.95 and a Cadillac Clubhouse sandwich for $9.45.
My Cadillac Clubhouse came first, a three-decker sandwich with ham, bacon, turkey, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, divided into four. It also came with French fries.
I was not that hungry as I had chicken noodles at a Thai shack at the southern part of the island earlier on Saturday afternoon so I just picked on my Cadillac Clubhouse, but I took the rest home and finished it later.
My buddy’s chicken plate came a few minutes after — crunchy leg, thigh, breast and wing with rice and coleslaw. You can substitute rice for mashed potato or garlic bread.
At Bobby Cadillacs, the choice are endless (just don’t follow our example of coming after closing time). Pizza lovers have a choice between a regular or thin crust and your favorite pizza in small, medium or large servings. You can go for cheese only, single meat topping, spiced beef and mushrooms, Hawaiian Special, New York’s favorite, the Bobby Cadillacs combo of pepperoni, sausages, olives, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions, and more combinations.
American favorites such as Bobby Cadillacs gourmet ½ or ¼ pounder juicy burgers prepared in the old-fashioned way with your choice of toppings, quarter pounder beef king hotdogs with fresh warm buns from $5.10 to $6.70, or big deli sandwiches with “Deli Grade” meats for $8.75, or the Bobby Cadillacs specialty sandwiches for $9.45.
Other must-try specialty plates are the roasted chicken, fish and chips, chef salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and Salisbury steak. You should also check out the daily specials to try home cooking at its best at Bobby Cadillacs.
Need a hearty breakfast with coffee? Bobby Cadillacs serves pancakes, French toast, eggs and ham, bacon or sausage, omelets or S.O.S., a good old American standard creamed ground beef served over toast, topped with an egg, all from $6.95 to $8.50.
The framed photographs adorning the walls and the spacious interior of Bobby Cadillacs add to the homey atmosphere, making it an ideal place to hang out for a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner.
