Head Pastry Chef Jody O’Sullivan shared his thoughts on the new offering: “The Crowne Cake Collection is all about giving guests control over their cake. They can choose from different styles, colors, and designs to make their cake truly their own.”
Unlike a typical cake menu, The Crowne Cake Collection lets you design your cake, from the top design to the sides and much more! Guests can either call in or visit Market Place, where they’ll be given a tablet to explore various stages of designing their cakes. From the icing and decorations to the color scheme and flavor combinations, everything is customizable. Once you’re happy with your design, it’s added to your order. For guests who call to order, you can also view the collection online through our Instagram Market Place highlight (@crowneplazaresortsaipan) or at https://saipan.crowneplaza.com/restaurant/marketplace/.
Cakes are available for order at Market Place inside Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, and our pastry team is ready to take your orders between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Custom cakes should be ordered 48 hours in advance. For more complex designs, like tiered or wedding cakes, Chef Jody and his team are happy to discuss ideas with guests to make your dream a reality. If you’re in a hurry, we also offer pre-designed ready-made cakes that can be personalized with a message — based on availability.

About Chef Jody O’Sullivan
Chef Jody O’Sullivan joined Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan in July 2024. His passion for pastry and cake design began at a young age, growing up with his mom and grandmother, who baked frequently. Inspired by a Masterchef episode, Chef Jody thought he could perform like — or even do better than — the chefs on the show. So, he enrolled in pastry school in France and hasn’t looked back. With 13 years of experience, he loves the variety and creativity that being a pastry chef offers.
One of Chef Jody’s favorite cakes to make is the Irish Tea Cake, which is also the current monthly special at Market Place. It’s his mom’s recipe, so whenever it’s baking in the kitchen, he’s reminded of his childhood and the comforting memories it brings.
