THIS Friday, July 28, marks the start of the 42nd annual Flame Tree Arts Festival at the Civic Center Beach Park in Susupe.
The opening ceremony is set for 5 p.m. The festival ends on Sunday, July 30, at 10 p.m.
“We encourage the community to come out and join this iconic event,” said Gloriana M. Teuria, acting executive director of the CNMI Arts Council. “This is your chance to meet our artists, enjoy the food and drink with friends and families, and most of all to come out and learn and see each of our artists as they display, demonstrate, and educate everyone with their unique artworks and talents.”
Teuria said there are 34 art vendors and 12 food vendors participating this year.
In addition, she said a delegation from Rota will be on island with their arts and crafts as well as their traditional healing techniques and medicines.
Live music and dance performances will be featured during the three days of the festival. The performers include The Legends, the Talabwogh Men and Women, PCA’s Tiul Belau, Ana Glushko’s Academy, Refaluwasch Warriors, Da Kine, Chinese Association, Simiyan Marianas, Marv and Jay, among others.
